Hints and Tips
We provide expert advice when we fit your new
floor as part of our complete service.
All areas to be clear, and old flooring removed
before fitter arrives. Colours and patterns of all floor coverings
may vary in manufacture. Appearance and wear and tear will be
affected by the condition of the floor surface.
Spot Removal
Act Quickly! Most
carpets available are treated with a stain-resist
treatment, so many spills can be removed if immediate action
is taken.
Blot liquids with a dry, white, absorbent cloth
or white paper towel. Do not scrub the area! Scrubbing
can cause pile distortion. Use
a dry cloth or paper towels until the area is completely dry.
Underlay
It is always wise to fit a good underlay below carpet
as it evens out the wear, fills in uneven floors and makes your
carpet last longer.
Removing candlewax
Wait until it is cold and hard, then scrape off as much as possible, and vacuum.
Cover the remaining wax spot with brown paper and press with a warm iron. The
wax will melt and be absorbed by the paper.
Flooring Care
The Institute of
Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) offers these tips:
– |
|
Use Entry
Mats: 80%-90% of soil on floors is tracked in
from outside. |
– |
|
Remove Dry Soil Often: Vacuuming
is the most efficient way. |
– |
|
Wet Clean Regularly: Use a neutral
cleaner or one formulated for the particular floor surface.
When cleaning wood floors, keep moisture to a minimum. |
Before Considering a Wood floor, Consider What's Under It.
When
considering the benefits of various hardwood flooring types,
finishes and other considerations make sure the floor you
intend to lay it on is flat and secure.
